Do you get the quote? It comes from the worse transition books to movies, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. You don't even want to get me started about the movies, so we'll talk about the books instead.

This saga is written by Rick Riordan or as we call him in the fandom Uncle Rick. Did you know that Riordan means "royal poet" in Irish? He is one of the few old adult authors to really remember what it is to be young.

He has written many series, linked between them so we call them the Riordanverse. It all begins with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians, or PJO for short. It this saga, Perseus aka Percy discovers he is the son of the Greek god of the sea Poseidon, that the Olympus is still pretty much important and alive and saves the world thanks to his friends Annabeth Chase, Thalia Grace, Grover, Tyson and many others at Camp Half-Blood (CHB, camp for demigods). They are five books, The Lightening Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of The Labyrinth and The Last Olympian.

At the same time, in parallel, there is the Kane Chronicles, about siblings, Carter and Sadie, living in the modern times but with the Egyptian mythology, they also save the world but in 3 books (The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire and The Serpent's Shadow).

Then, there is the Heroes of Olympus (HOO) series, in which we follow Jason Chase, Piper McLean, Leo Valdez, Hazel Grace, Frank Zhang, Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Nico Di Angelo and Reyna Ramirez-Arellano travelling trough Europe to put Gaea back to her sleep with the help of Greek and Roman gods otherwise the world as we know it would be gone. It comes in 5 tomes, The Lost Hero, The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena, The House of Hades and The Blood of Olympus.

You remember Annabeth? Well the third saga is about her cousin. It is called Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard (MCGA), it's about Norse mythology and him, with the help of Sam Al-Abbas, Blitzen, Heartstone, Mallory Keen, TJ, Alex Fierro, Halfborn Gunderson and his magic talking-singing-fighting sword Jack, and they keep fighting Loki's plans to delay the Ragnarok, the end of the word according to the Vikings.

And the last but not least saga is Apollo's Trials, in which the god is turned into a mortal because of the events that occurred in HOO and must complete a quest before getting back his immortality. He works with his son Will Solace, Nico Di Angelo, Percy Jackson, Meg McCaffrey, Jason Grace to defeat Python, again and regain control of the power of the prophecies.

All the series are so great because they are so inclusive. It starts little, with a kid that has ADHD and dyslexia, then more people join and then there are LGBT+ representatives, deaf person, people of color, Muslim, name it! It also talk about mental illnesses and handicaps, and overall lost people that realize who they really are, no matter what. Way to go Uncle Rick!

9 From The Nine Worlds

Hello my fair readers, I am very happy to be back to you! Today, I have really good news, my friend passed me her new book from Rick Riordan so we'll have another book review and mythology lesson, but not necessarily in that order. It's called 9 From the Nine Worlds, it's a collection of stories from the characters of Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard in the nine realms of the Norse mythology. The vikings believed that they lived in a gigantic tree named Yggdrasil, and it supported the structure of the nine worlds. Asgard (the first one at the top) is the home of the Aesir, the gods such as Odin, Thor, Frigg, Heimdall, Loki, Tyr, Baldur, Idun and Bragi. It is also the home of  half of the vikings that had a great death, Einherjar that live in Valhalla waiting for the Ragnarok. Then, at the trunk, there are three realms. In 2002, 1.5% of Canadians women between the age of 15 and 24 had an eating disorder. One third of the girls in grade nine and ten engaged weight-less behaviors. 40% considered themselves too fat. Eating disorders are a real scourge and more girls and boys succumb to the social pressure each year. The more the time goes on the more people are being attacked by the society telling them the way to live their lives. At the dentist the magazine about how a star lost 50 pounds, ads with models as thin as a sheet of paper, but they are so, so pretty, are at least it's what we're told. The perfect family cliché, two loving parents, a mom, a dad and two little beautiful children. White? Of course, why do you even ask? Makeup on every face, every advertising board. Every thing is being gendered and you must fit in that mold the society created or you are being looked at and judged. Every day a girl looks in the mirror and isn't satisfied with what she sees.
